About the Sun

 About the Sun

At the centre of the solar system there is a
burning ball gas known as the Sun.
It is made out of mainly 2 gases
called hydrogen and helium.
Helium atoms attract together
to produce heat, light and radiation.
The Sun has a tremendous gravitational
pull holding all the planets instead of
drifting into space. Actually the Sun is
a star just very very closer to the planets
in the solar system. The heat and light
produced from the helium atoms is important
for life to live on earth. Without the Sun there
would be no heat, no light and no plants will
grow.

Maths problem

There is an event at Auckland Zoo. There were 92 visitors.
Out of these visitors, 20 were women and 22 were children.
How many were men?

92-20=
92-20=72
72-0=72

72-22=
72-20=52
52-2=50                            answer 50

Kiri has 87 apples. She gives away 38 apples to her friend
Daena. How many apples has she got left with her now?

Space

   Space

Space is everywhere and space is
pitch black which means there is darkness.
We do not know where space ends which
means space is infinite also space consists
of meteors, asteroids and shooting stars.
There is a possibility that there are many
more suns and solar systems in space.
For example there might be aliens in other
solar systems. Light can travel in space but
not sounds and the earth has light because
of the sun’s light can reach through space.
In space you cannot breathe in space and
that is why astronauts wear gas masks to
protect themselves from freezing.

The trip to stardome

Trip to stardome

My favourite part of trip to stardome was we
had a parent and a group and we had to work
as a team to find answer for each photo on the
wall.

Also my other favourite part was we went
into a huge room like the cinema and there
were chairs for us that were facing up and
there was a huge screen on the roof and we
watched a movie about the sun and moon.

Earth

   Earth

Earth is the third planet from the Sun
it is called goldilocks because it is not
too hot or too cold. It is just the right
temperature for human life to survive.

Earth is a unique planet. It has 2 very
important elements oxygen and water.
Earth is a planet where things can grow
it also has 1 moon. It has immense
gravitational pull and Earth has a
beautiful environment.

Venus

Venus

Venus is the hottest planet. It is made out of carbon dioxide
and it has sulphuric acid so if you visit Venus you will burn
and die. On sunset you can see a bright star known as Venus.
Venus is known as Earth’s sister because they are almost the
same size and has the same gravitational pull. It might not be
fun to visit but it is fun to look at and it is so tremendously
beautiful.

Venus has a thick atmosphere and does not have oxygen
and water to survive.

The Sun writing test

The Sun writing test

The Sun is a huge burning ball of gas it is
made out of 2 different gas hydrogen and
helium. The Sun has 6 layers of hotness
corona, chromosphere, photosphere,
convective zone, radiative zone and the core.

The Sun is a huge star and another name
for the Sun is sol. The Sun has an extensive
magnetic field forming a tremendous
gravitational pull holding all 8 planets.

The sun is 109 times wider than the Earth.
If the Sun was a jar it could fit more than 1
million Earths.

Our solar system

  Our solar system

Our solar system consists of 8 planets, 1 sun and lots of moons.
There are other heavenly bodies like shooting stars, holes and
meteors. There might be a possibility that there are other solar
system beyond our solar system. The scientist are unaware of
another life.

We can’t survive on other planets because there is no oxygen
and water. Other planets are too hot or too cold to live in
because people need the right temperature to live. Some
planets are made out of gas and people will die from it but
Earth is the only one that is a suitable planet because there
is water and food to survive. The Earth is the only one that has
seasons which make people’s lives comfortable.

WALT read a calendar

 WALT read a calendar

Today I learnt to look at a calendar now
I know that there are 7 days in a week.
I know there are 12 months in a year.
I know Some months have 31 days and
some 30 days. I know February has 28 days
and I also know how to look at the day and
date of in the calendar.
